TikTok & Instagram Reels FAQ
CLICK TO EXPANDWelcome to the TikTok & Reels growth forum. Short-form vertical content is the fastest way to build an online audience today. This category is dedicated to discussing the viral algorithms, trends, and monetization strategies of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Reels. Share tips on viral audio selection, video hooks, vertical formatting, caption overlays, and call-to-actions. Discuss platform-specific features such as TikTok Shop, Instagram Subscriptions, and creator rewards programs. Connect with vertical video creators to swap strategies on trendjacking, comment section engagement, and converting viral viewers into loyal brand followers.
Q: How do you trigger the algorithm on TikTok and Reels?
Both algorithms look closely at watch time, completion rate, and shares. To trigger growth, hook viewers in the first 1-2 seconds with text overlays or visual transitions, use trending audio tracks, and encourage users to share or save the video using a subtle call to action.
Q: What is the best video resolution for uploading to Instagram Reels?
The ideal resolution is 1080x1920 pixels (9:16 aspect ratio). In Instagram Settings, navigate to Account -> Media Upload Quality and check "Upload at Highest Quality". This prevents Instagram from compressing your videos during mobile uploads.
Q: Should I use hashtags on TikTok and Instagram Reels?
Yes, but keep it targeted. Use 3-5 highly relevant hashtags: 1 broad tag (e.g., #videoediting), 2 niche tags (e.g., #premierepro, #capcuttutorial), and 1 trend tag if applicable. Avoid using generic tags like #FYP or #viral, as they do not help categorize your video.
Q: How do I find trending sounds before they oversaturate?
On TikTok, check the "Creative Center" trends board. On Instagram, scroll the Reels feed and look for the small upward-pointing arrow next to the audio name, which signifies a trending sound. Save these sounds and use them within 2-3 days for maximum exposure.
