Hello from a long-time lurker – finally introducing myself!
Hey everyone! I've been a silent member of ShortVi for about a year now, absorbing all the amazing knowledge shared here. I finally decided to stop lurking and introduce myself because this community has been so helpful for my own journey. I go by cutwave45, and I'm a part-time video creator focusing on cinematic travel and urban exploration content. I started about 18 months ago with just my phone and a cheap gimbal, but I've recently upgraded to a Sony A7 IV and a DJI RS 3. I'm still learning the ropes with color grading in DaVinci Resolve, and I'd love to connect with other creators who shoot similar content. My channel is still small (just under 2k subs), but I'm committed to improving my storytelling and editing. Best Mobile Editing App for Quick YouTube Shorts & Reels in 2026?
Hey everyone! I've been editing my long-form videos on my PC with DaVinci Resolve, but for Shorts and Reels, I want to edit on the go, especially when I'm traveling or need to post quickly. I've tried a few mobile apps like CapCut and InShot, but I'm not sure which one is the best for speed and quality in 2026. I mainly need to cut clips, add captions, and maybe some basic color grading. Also, I've heard about the new AI features in some apps—are they worth it? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and I usually shoot in 4K. I want to avoid losing quality when exporting, and I also need a reliable way to sync with my PC workflow if possible. Why does my talking head footage look flat and lifeless? (Sony A7IV + Sigma 24-70)
Hey everyone, I've been shooting talking head videos for my tech channel for about six months now. I'm using a Sony A7IV with a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, usually at 35mm f/4, ISO 100, 1/50 shutter, with a single Godox SL150W softbox key light from camera left at 45 degrees. The footage looks sharp in 4K S-Log3, but after grading in DaVinci Resolve, the face always looks kind of flat and muddy—no pop or depth. I've tried adding contrast and saturation, but it just looks unnatural. I also notice the background (a plain gray wall) looks noisy even at ISO 100. Am I missing a lighting technique, a camera setting, or a grade workflow? Any advice would be great!
