Hey everyone, I've been running a tech review channel for about 18 months now and my RPM was steadily climbing – I was averaging around $8-9 RPM in the US/UK. But starting last week, my RPM has tanked to around $4. I haven't changed my content style, upload schedule, or audience targeting. I checked YouTube Studio and my impressions and CTR are actually up slightly, but my CPM and RPM have both dropped significantly.
I'm wondering if this is related to the recent algorithm update that YouTube pushed in March 2026 (the one that changed how they evaluate viewer satisfaction for mid-roll ads). I've read some forum posts about it but nothing concrete. Has anyone else experienced a similar drop? If so, did you manage to recover, or is this the new normal? I'm considering diversifying to other platforms like Rumble or Twitch, but I'd rather fix this if possible.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for a quick fix, just trying to understand if this is a temporary fluctuation or a long-term trend I need to adapt to.
