Hey everyone! I've been creating music content (covers, original loops, and behind-the-scenes) for about a year now. I post on both YouTube Shorts and TikTok, but I'm starting to feel like I should focus my energy on one platform to grow faster. My YouTube channel has 2.4K subs and my TikTok has 18K followers, but my YouTube Shorts get way more watch time and longer average view duration (around 45 seconds) compared to TikTok (around 15 seconds).
I know YouTube has been pushing Shorts hard, and with the 2026 algorithm updates, I've heard that Shorts can actually drive subscriptions to long-form content better than TikTok. But TikTok still has that massive reach and discoverability. I'm planning to monetize soon, and I want to build a sustainable career. Should I double down on YouTube Shorts and let TikTok be secondary, or should I keep both in rotation? Any data or personal experiences would be super helpful! Thanks!
