Hey everyone, I run a small cooking channel on Instagram Reels and TikTok. I had one video blow up to 2.3 million views on Reels about a month ago, but since then, every new Reel I post is stuck at the dreaded 200-view cap. It's like Instagram has shadowbanned me or something. My engagement rate is still solid (likes/comments from my followers), but the reach to non-followers is basically zero. I've tried posting at different times, using trending audio, and even changing my hashtag strategy. Nothing seems to break the plateau.
I'm using a Sony ZV-E10 with a 30mm f/1.4 lens, editing in CapCut desktop. My videos are 10-15 seconds, vertical 9:16, 1080x1920, H.264, 30fps. I export at 'Recommended' settings in CapCut. I've read about the 'post-viral slump' but I'm not sure if that's a real thing or if I'm just being throttled. Has anyone else experienced this after a viral hit? What actually worked for you to get back into the algorithm's good graces? Any specific technical or content strategy tweaks that helped?
