Hey everyone! I've been posting weekly for about 4 months now, and my average view duration is stuck around 25-30%. The weird thing is that my intro seems to perform fine—the first 30 seconds usually hold viewers, but then I see a sharp cliff in retention right after that. I'm scripting my videos with a hook, then diving into the content, but it feels like people are bailing exactly when I start 'getting to the point.'
I've tried re-editing my intros, adding more b-roll, and even changing my pacing, but nothing seems to move the needle. I'm using YouTube Studio's retention graph, and the dip is consistent across all my recent uploads. Could it be my editing style? My topic selection? Or maybe I'm just not delivering what the thumbnail promises? Any advice on how to diagnose this would be hugely appreciated!
