Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end here. I just upgraded to a Ryzen 9 7950X, 64GB of RAM, and an RTX 4090, yet when I export a 4K 60fps project in DaVinci Resolve 18.6, the export preview stutters and the render times are way slower than expected. I'm using the H.265 codec, 60 Mbps, with the 'High' quality setting. My source footage is from a Sony A7S III in 10-bit 4:2:2. I've already updated my GPU drivers, set the timeline to 'DaVinci Resolve' color space, and I've tried both 'GPU' and 'CPU' render modes. Is there something I'm missing? I've seen folks with lesser rigs export faster. Any help would be massively appreciated!

Hey! That's a beast of a machine, so something is definitely off. First, check your render settings: in the Deliver page, make sure you're using 'H.265' with the 'NVIDIA' encoder selected (not 'Native' or 'Main 10'). If 'NVIDIA' isn't showing, you might need to enable 'NVIDIA encoder' in the 'Hardware' section of your system settings. Also, ensure your timeline resolution matches your export resolution—if you're working in 4K but your timeline is set to 1080p, Resolve will upscale during export, which can cause stutter. Another common culprit is having 'Optimized Media' or 'Proxy Mode' enabled inadvertently; check your Playback menu and set 'Proxy Mode' to 'Off'. Finally, try exporting with 'H.264' instead of 'H.265' for a test—H.265 is more CPU-intensive and can bottleneck even with a 4090 if the encoder isn't engaged properly. Let us know if that helps!

Great tip! I switched to H.264 and it worked like a charm—export is now smooth and 3x faster. Turns out my 'NVIDIA' encoder was disabled in the system settings, which I'd overlooked. Thanks for pointing that out, and thanks to everyone who replied. Problem solved!
