How to Pitch Your First Brand Deal Without a Media Kit?

Brand Deals & Sponsorships Created: 09.08.2026 19:05 26 Views
Hey everyone! I've been creating content for about a year now, mostly tech reviews and editing tutorials. My channel is growing steadily—I have around 8k subscribers and my videos average 5k views. I've started getting a few emails from brands asking to feature their products, but they all ask for a media kit and I don't have one. I'm not sure where to start or what to include. Should I just make one? Or is there a better way to pitch myself without a formal media kit? Also, how do I set a price for my first sponsored video? I don't want to undersell myself but I don't want to scare brands away either. Any advice would be super helpful!

Hey! Congrats on getting brand interest—that's a huge step. You absolutely need a media kit, but it doesn't have to be fancy. Start with a simple one-page PDF using Canva or even Google Slides. Include your channel stats (subs, average views, engagement rate), your niche, audience demographics (age, gender, location from YouTube Analytics), and a few examples of your best work. For pricing, a common formula is $20-$30 per 1000 views for a dedicated video, but since you're new, you can start at $100-$200 per video and negotiate. Also, don't forget to factor in the time you spend on scripting, filming, editing, and any extra deliverables like social posts. Check what others in your niche charge—there are rate card templates on YouTube creatives forums. And always ask for the brand's budget first—that way you don't lowball yourself. Hope that helps!

Thanks creatorexpert68, that's really practical advice! I actually took your tip and made a simple media kit on Canva last night. It took about an hour and I'm already feeling more confident. I also looked up some rate card examples and I think I'll start with $150 for a dedicated video, plus a $50 add-on for an Instagram story. One more thing—should I include my subscriber count even though it's small? Or focus on the engagement rate? I've heard some brands care more about that. I'll test the waters with the next email I get and let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
