How to Pitch Your First Brand Deal Without a Media Kit?
Hey everyone! I've been creating content for about a year now, mostly tech reviews and editing tutorials. My channel is growing steadily—I have around 8k subscribers and my videos average 5k views. I've started getting a few emails from brands asking to feature their products, but they all ask for a media kit and I don't have one. I'm not sure where to start or what to include. Should I just make one? Or is there a better way to pitch myself without a formal media kit? Also, how do I set a price for my first sponsored video? I don't want to undersell myself but I don't want to scare brands away either. Any advice would be super helpful!
Best bitrate and encoder settings for 1080p60 live streaming on YouTube?
Hey everyone! I've been live streaming my video editing sessions on YouTube for a few months now, but I'm still not happy with the quality. I'm using OBS Studio with a Ryzen 9 5900X and an RTX 3080, streaming at 1080p60. My upload speed is 50 Mbps, so that's not the issue. I've tried different bitrates (4500, 6000, 8000) but the stream still looks soft, especially when I'm moving windows around or showing fast-paced timeline scrubbing. I know YouTube recommends 4500 for 1080p60, but that seems low for high-motion content. What are you all using for bitrate and encoder settings to get crisp, smooth streams? Any advice on x264 vs NVENC vs the new AV1? I'm open to any tweaks!
Why are my Shorts stuck at 500 views? Algorithm shadowban or just bad luck?
Hey everyone, I've been posting daily Shorts for about three weeks now. My content is gaming clips with funny commentary, edited in CapCut with trending sounds. I make sure to use 3-5 hashtags, post at peak times, and even add a hook in the first second. But every single video flatlines at around 500 views, sometimes even less. I'm not expecting to go viral overnight, but this feels like the algorithm is suppressing me. I've read about 'shadowbanning' or 'low-quality content' flags, but I don't think I've violated any policies. My watch time is decent (80-90% retention), and I get likes and comments. Could it be that my content is being flagged as reused because I use gameplay clips? Or is there something else I'm missing? I'd love to hear from anyone who's cracked the Shorts algorithm or had a similar experience. Thanks in advance!
Shorts retention plummets after 3 seconds – what am I doing wrong?
Hey everyone! I've been posting daily Shorts for about a month now, and I'm stuck. My average view duration is around 3-4 seconds on a 30-second Short, which means most people swipe away almost immediately. I'm using catchy hooks, text overlays, and fast cuts, but nothing seems to hold attention. I've tried different niches – gaming clips, tutorials, and even funny moments – but the retention graph looks like a cliff drop right at the start. I'm editing in CapCut on my phone, exporting at 1080x1920, and I make sure the first frame is bold with big text. I've also tested posting at different times, but the algorithm just doesn't seem to push my videos beyond a few hundred views. My CTR is around 6-7% from the browse feed, but once they click, they leave. Is there something about the first 3 seconds that I'm fundamentally missing? Should I be using a different editing style or maybe a stronger verbal hook? Any advice from creators who've cracked the Shorts algorithm would be amazing!
Best Mobile Editing App for Long-Form YouTube Videos in 2026?
Hey everyone! I've been editing my YouTube videos on my phone for a while now, but I'm hitting a wall. I mainly create 10-15 minute tech review videos with lots of b-roll, screen recordings, and voiceover. I've been using CapCut, but the recent update removed some of the features I rely on, and the export times are killing me. I'm looking for a mobile editing app that can handle longer timelines without crashing, offers precise cutting and keyframing, and lets me export in true 4K (or at least 1440p) without a watermark. I'm willing to pay for a subscription if it's worth it. I've heard about LumaFusion, but I'm not sure if it's still the best option in 2026. Also, I'm on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so I have access to ProRes and the A17 Pro chip. What do you all recommend? I need something that can handle my workflow and not make me want to throw my phone out the window. Thanks!
Why does my 4K timeline lag in Premiere Pro even with a proxy workflow?
Hey everyone! I'm editing a short documentary in Premiere Pro 2026 on a Windows machine (Ryzen 9 5900X, RTX 3080, 32GB RAM), and I've set up proxies as usual (ProRes 422 Proxy at 1/4 resolution). But my timeline still stutters horribly—scrubbing is choppy, and playback drops frames even at 1/4 quality. I've toggled the proxy button, made sure the sequence is set to proxy resolution, and even cleared media cache. What am I missing? I've heard about the new Mercury Playback Engine optimizations, but my settings seem standard. Any tips to make this smoother? Thanks!
Hello from a long-time lurker! Starting my YouTube journey after 10 years in TV production
Hey everyone! I've been a silent member of ShortVi for about two years now, soaking up all the amazing advice from this community. I finally decided to stop lurking and introduce myself properly. Quick background: I spent the last decade working in local TV news as a camera operator and occasional editor. I've done everything from live sports to breaking news packages, so I'm comfortable with professional gear and workflows. But I'm completely new to the creator space—YouTube, Shorts, monetization, audience growth, all of it. It feels like learning a whole new language. I'm planning to launch a channel focused on behind-the-scenes looks at TV production, plus tutorials on camera techniques and editing workflows. My goal is to share the practical knowledge I've gained while also building a community. I'd love to hear from anyone who made a similar transition—what surprised you the most? Any pitfalls to avoid when starting fresh in 2026? Looking forward to connecting with you all!
How to effectively promote affiliate products in video descriptions without hurting viewer trust?
Hey everyone, I've been creating tech review videos for about a year now, and I've just started getting into affiliate marketing. I've joined a few programs (Amazon Associates, some direct ones for camera gear), and I'm making a small but steady income from links in my video descriptions. However, I'm worried that if I start pushing these links more aggressively, my viewers might lose trust in me. I've seen some creators get called out for 'shilling' and I really don't want that to happen. So my question is: what are the best practices for promoting affiliate products in video descriptions without making it feel too salesy? Do you have any tips on placement, wording, or even how to structure the description so it doesn't look like a wall of links? Also, is there any data on click-through rates for links placed at the top vs. bottom of the description? I'm using YouTube Studio's description editor, so I can pin a comment or use the 'chapters' feature to help organize. Any advice would be awesome!
Best royalty-free music for high-energy travel vlogs (without sounding like every other channel)?
Hey everyone! I'm trying to step up my travel vlog game, but I'm hitting a wall with music. I want that high-energy, cinematic vibe – think upbeat percussion, driving synths, maybe some world instruments – but everything I find on the usual royalty-free sites (Epidemic, Artlist) either sounds like generic corporate stock or is already used by every other travel channel. I'm in the adventure/travel niche (hiking, city exploring, road trips), and I need tracks that feel fresh but still have that polished, commercial sound. I've tried searching by BPM and mood, but the results are either too repetitive or the mix/master isn't loud enough. I'm editing in Premiere Pro, and I usually layer 2-3 tracks (a main hook, a percussion layer, and a bassline). Does anyone have recommendations for specific artists, labels, or even smaller libraries that specialize in this kind of high-energy travel music? Also, how do you handle transitions between tracks in a single video without it feeling jarring? Any tips on mixing music levels with voiceover and nat sound would be a huge help too!
