Hey everyone! I've been editing for about two years now, mostly as a hobby, and I've built a decent portfolio of personal projects and a few free edits for friends. I really want to start freelancing and earning money, but I'm stuck on how to make that leap. I've seen job boards like Upwork and Fiverr, but I'm not sure how to compete with so many editors out there. Also, I'm not confident about pricing my work—how do I know what to charge per project or per hour?
I'm using Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and I have a decent laptop but no dedicated GPU. I'm also wondering if I need to invest in any specific gear or software to be taken seriously as a freelancer. Any advice on building a client base, creating a portfolio that stands out, or handling the business side (contracts, payments, etc.) would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
