Hey everyone! I've been deep in a 14-hour editing marathon for a client project, and my brain is completely fried. I love the craft, but sometimes I hit a wall where every cut feels wrong and I just need to step away. I'm curious—what do you all do to reset and recharge after those intense editing binges? Do you have a specific routine, hobby, or even a tech-free ritual that helps you come back fresh?

I usually try to go for a walk or play some video games, but I feel like I'm not doing enough to truly disconnect. I'd love to hear what works for you, whether it's something physical, creative, or just plain mindless. Also, if you have any tips for avoiding burnout in the long run, I'm all ears!

I feel you! After long sessions, I've found that switching to a completely different sensory mode helps. For me, it's cooking—something with a lot of chopping and stirring. It forces me to focus on the physical, not the screen. Plus, you get a meal out of it. I also swear by the 20-20-20 rule during editing: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It sounds silly, but it saves my eyes and gives my brain micro-breaks. Try that next time you're in the zone!

Walking is great, but if you're still thinking about the edit in your head, it's not a real disconnect. Maybe try a podcast or audiobook that's totally unrelated to video—something like a history or true crime. That way, your brain can't wander back to the timeline. Also, have you considered a hobby that uses your hands but not your eyes, like knitting or playing an instrument? It's a game-changer!

Thanks for the tips, videospark77! The cooking idea is brilliant—I never thought of that. I tried the 20-20-20 rule today during a quick session, and it actually helped my eyes feel less strained. I think I'll start incorporating that into every edit. Also, I grabbed a podcast on ancient Rome for my next walk, so I'll see if that helps me truly switch off.

I also realized I need to set boundaries with my time. I'm going to start scheduling a hard stop at 8 PM, no matter what. That way, I have a guaranteed hour of non-screen time before bed. Thanks for the advice—it's exactly what I needed to hear!
