Hey everyone! I'm working on a music video for a client and they want a cool, retro-futuristic screen glitch effect on some text and footage. The problem is, I'm on a tight budget and can't afford any expensive plugins like Twitch or Glitch Pro. I know After Effects has some built-in effects, but I can't seem to get that authentic, organic glitch look—the kind you see in cyberpunk movies, with color shifting, tearing, and blocky artifacts.
I've tried playing with the 'Fractal Noise' and 'Displacement Map' combo, but it always looks too random and not structured enough. I also tried the 'CC Ball Action' (lol, that was a disaster). Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm using After Effects 2025 (the latest version) and I'm comfortable with expressions and keyframing. Any help would be massively appreciated!
