Hey everyone, I run a tech review channel and for the past year I've been using the classic 'shocked face + red arrow + yellow text' thumbnail style, and my CTR hovered around 6%. Last month I decided to rebrand to a cleaner, more minimal look – big product photo, subtle background, simple sans-serif text. I thought it would look more professional, but my CTR has tanked to 1.8% on new uploads. My retention is actually up, so the content is fine. I've read all the guides about 'curiosity gap' and 'pattern interrupt' but it feels like the algorithm is punishing me for not matching expectations. Is there a way to transition without losing CTR? Should I just revert to the old style? Or is there a middle ground? Any data or experience with this would be super helpful.
