Why does my talking-head video look flat? Need critique on lighting and color
Hey everyone, I've been making YouTube videos for about six months now, and I'm stuck. My latest talking-head video looks... flat. I'm using a Sony A7 IV with a 35mm f/1.8 lens, shooting in S-Log3, and I grade in DaVinci Resolve. I've got a Godox SL60W as my key light through a softbox, a cheap LED panel as fill, and I'm shooting against a plain white wall. The exposure looks correct (I use the waveform), but the image just lacks depth and punch. Skin tones look a bit muddy, and the background is blown out in places. I've watched a bunch of tutorials, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Is it a lighting setup issue, a color grading problem, or something else? I'd love some specific feedback from people who've been through this. My goal is to get that clean, cinematic look that big YouTubers have.
