Best way to create realistic smoke/fog loops for music videos?
Hey everyone! I'm working on a music video for a local artist and the director wants these dreamy, slow-motion smoke/fog effects drifting through the frame. I've tried using stock footage of smoke, but it always looks too flat or doesn't blend well with the color grade. I'm thinking of generating my own loops in After Effects or using a 3D tool like Houdini (but that seems overkill). What's the most efficient workflow to get realistic, volumetric-looking smoke that loops seamlessly? I've upgraded my camera to a Sony ZV-E10 and I'm shooting with a 35mm f/1.8 lens, but my videos still look flat and dull compared to the big creators in my niche. I'm using a single softbox key light at 45 degrees, a cheap LED panel as fill, and I'm shooting in a small room with white walls. I grade in DaVinci Resolve using a standard Rec.709 LUT, but I feel like my skin tones are a bit off and the overall image lacks depth.
