How to interpret YouTube Analytics for a struggling channel?

Hey everyone, I've been creating videos for about 8 months now, and my channel is just not growing. I have around 400 subscribers, and my views are stuck at 200-300 per video. I'm trying to use YouTube Analytics to figure out what's wrong, but I feel overwhelmed by all the metrics. What should I focus on first? Is it CTR, average view duration, or something else? I've watched countless tutorials, but they all say different things. Some say CTR is king, others say retention is everything. I've also tried changing my thumbnails and titles, but nothing seems to move the needle. Could you guys share your workflow for analyzing a channel's performance? I'd love to know what metrics you check daily, weekly, or monthly, and how you decide what to improve next. Thanks in advance!

Any tips for planning a cross-channel collab with different niches?

Hey guys! I'm a travel vlogger (around 50k subs) and I've been approached by a tech reviewer (around 80k subs) for a collab. The idea is to film a video where I test out his latest gadgets while exploring a new city, but our content styles are very different—he's very structured with scripts and B-roll, while I'm more spontaneous and raw. I want to make sure the video appeals to both our audiences without alienating anyone. I've never done a collab before, so I'm a bit nervous about planning the shoot, splitting the work, and promoting it. How do you usually handle the pre-production, filming schedule, and post-production responsibilities when working with another creator from a different niche? Also, any advice on cross-promotion strategies that actually work? Thanks!

Anyone else feel like the algorithm is making us all clones?

I've been noticing a weird trend lately. I started my channel two years ago making very specific, niche tutorials on retro game development in Unreal Engine 5. My videos were doing okay, a few thousand views each, great engagement. Then I made one video that blew up (100k+ views) about 'The Best LUTs for Cyberpunk Color Grading' – completely unrelated to my usual content. Since then, the algorithm has been pushing me to make more of that kind of 'trendy tutorial' content. My subscriber count is up, but my old audience is complaining that I've sold out. I feel like I'm just chasing the algorithm now instead of making what I love. Is anyone else experiencing this pressure to conform to a certain 'YouTube meta'? It's starting to kill my passion.

Best Budget-friendly Softbox for a Solo YouTube Creator?

Hey everyone! I'm a solo creator doing mostly sit-down talking head videos and occasional product reviews. I've been using a single Neewer 18-inch ring light for a while, but I'm finding the shadows too harsh, especially when I move around. I want to upgrade to a softbox setup for a softer, more professional look, but I'm on a tight budget (under $150 total). I've been looking at the Godox SL-60W with a softbox, but I'm not sure if that's overkill for my needs. I also see a lot of cheap 2-light kits on Amazon for like $80, but I worry about build quality and color accuracy. My room is small (about 10x10 ft) with white walls, so I can bounce some light too. What would you recommend for a single or two-light softbox setup that won't break the bank but still gives consistent 5600K daylight? Thanks!

Anyone else’s cat obsessed with their editing desk?

Okay, I know this is totally off-topic, but I can’t be the only one with this problem. Every time I sit down to edit in DaVinci Resolve, my cat, Pixel, jumps up onto my desk and either sits directly on my keyboard tray or tries to walk across my Wacom tablet. It’s getting to the point where I’ve lost a few timeline adjustments mid-edit because she triggered a random shortcut. I’ve tried everything—a cat bed next to the monitor, toys, even a cardboard box. She’s not interested. She just wants to be right in the middle of my workspace. Anyone else deal with this? Any creative solutions that actually work without disrupting my workflow? I’m running out of ideas.

How to showcase my first short film on ShortVi without getting roasted?

Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie to filmmaking and I've just finished my first short film—a 3-minute sci-fi piece shot on my phone with a gimbal. I'm super proud of it, but I'm terrified to post it on ShortVi because the feedback here can be brutal. I've seen people get torn apart for bad lighting or audio. I want to share it for constructive criticism, but I'm not sure how to present it properly. Should I add a title card with gear info? Or is it better to just let the video speak for itself? Also, what's the etiquette for asking for feedback in the description? I don't want to come off as desperate or annoying.
