Hey everyone! New editor here – looking to grow my channel and learn from the pros
Hi ShortVi community! My name is Alex, and I've been editing videos as a hobby for about two years now. I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own YouTube channel focused on gaming highlights and funny moments. I'm using Premiere Pro and After Effects for my edits, and I've been learning a lot from tutorials, but I feel like I'm hitting a plateau. I want to grow my channel and improve my editing skills, but I'm not sure where to focus my energy first. Any advice for a newbie editor? What should I prioritize – learning more advanced editing techniques, understanding the YouTube algorithm, or building a consistent upload schedule? I'd love to hear from experienced creators on what helped them the most when they were starting out.
How to Handle Copyright Claims on YouTube Without Getting a Strike?
Hey everyone, I've been uploading video essays and commentary content for about six months now, and I've run into a recurring issue: copyright claims on clips I use for fair use purposes. I always try to keep my usage transformative—adding my own narration, cutting clips short, and providing commentary—but I still get hit with manual claims from big publishers. I've had three claims so far, none escalated to strikes, but I'm worried about losing my channel. In the latest case, I used a 15-second clip from a 2022 movie trailer in a video about film editing trends. The claim came from a music publisher claiming the background score. I disputed it under fair use, but it's been 30 days with no response. Does anyone have experience navigating the YouTube copyright system? Should I just accept claims to avoid strikes, or is there a better way to handle these? Also, what's the difference between a claim and a strike in terms of channel health? Any advice would be appreciated.
After Effects motion blur looks jittery on export – am I missing a setting?
Hey everyone, I'm working on a kinetic typography project in After Effects 2026 and I'm running into a weird issue. The motion blur preview looks smooth and beautiful in the composition panel, but when I export via Media Encoder (using the YouTube 2160p preset with VBR 2-pass), the final video has these micro-jitters on fast-moving text. It's like the motion blur is stuttering instead of being smooth. I've already tried increasing the shutter angle to 180°, enabling adaptive resolution, and even pre-composing everything. My composition is 29.97fps, and I'm using the default motion blur settings. Could this be a frame blending issue or something with the render order? I've been pulling my hair out for two days. Any help would be massively appreciated!
