How do you all manage the mental burnout from constant client revisions?
Hey everyone, I'm a freelance video editor and I've been going through a serious creative burnout lately. It feels like every project I take on ends up with endless revision cycles, and by the time we finalize, I'm completely drained and don't feel like editing anything for myself. I've tried setting boundaries, like limiting revision rounds, but clients always push back. How do you all handle the mental side of this? Do you have any routines or mindsets that help you keep your passion alive? Would love to hear your tips, especially from those who've been doing this for a while.
Why does my lav mic pick up so much room echo in a small office?
Hey everyone, I'm a solo creator shooting talking-head videos in a small home office (about 10x12 feet) with bare walls and a wooden desk. I've been using a Rode Wireless GO II with the included lavalier mic, and while the voice is clear, there's a noticeable 'roomy' echo that makes it sound like I'm recording in a bathroom. I've tried lowering the gain on the receiver and even using the built-in safety channel, but it doesn't help. I'm editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and have tried the DeReverb effect, but it either does nothing or makes my voice sound watery. Is there a better way to fix this in post, or do I need to change my setup? Any advice would be awesome!
Best OBS Settings for 1080p60 Live Streaming on a Mid-Range PC?
Hey everyone! I'm diving into live streaming for the first time and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the OBS settings. I have a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM, and an RTX 2060 Super, and I want to stream games like Valorant and maybe some editing work on the side. My upload speed is about 20 Mbps, so I know I have some headroom. I've watched a few guides but they all seem to suggest different things, and I'm not sure what's actually optimal for my setup. Should I use NVENC or x264? What bitrate should I use for 1080p60? And what about keyframe interval, preset, and profile? Any help would be massively appreciated!
Hey everyone! New editor here – looking to learn and grow!
Hey ShortVi community! I'm Alex, a 24-year-old video editor from Toronto. I've been editing for about 3 years now, mostly doing freelance work for local businesses and YouTubers. I primarily use Premiere Pro and After Effects, and I'm really passionate about motion graphics and storytelling through editing. I joined ShortVi because I want to level up my skills and learn from more experienced creators. I'm particularly interested in improving my color grading and learning more about YouTube's algorithm for my own channel. I'm also hoping to connect with other editors and maybe collaborate on some projects. I'd love to hear about your editing journeys, any tips for a relatively new editor, and what you think are the most important skills to focus on in 2026. Thanks for having me!
Hey everyone! New editor here – looking to grow my channel and learn from the pros
Hi ShortVi community! My name is Alex, and I've been editing videos as a hobby for about two years now. I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own YouTube channel focused on gaming highlights and funny moments. I'm using Premiere Pro and After Effects for my edits, and I've been learning a lot from tutorials, but I feel like I'm hitting a plateau. I want to grow my channel and improve my editing skills, but I'm not sure where to focus my energy first. Any advice for a newbie editor? What should I prioritize – learning more advanced editing techniques, understanding the YouTube algorithm, or building a consistent upload schedule? I'd love to hear from experienced creators on what helped them the most when they were starting out.
How to Handle Copyright Claims on YouTube Without Getting a Strike?
<img src="/uploads/youtube-copyright-claims-dashboard-editing-workspace-1784822122.jpg" alt="YouTube Studio copyright claims dashboard on a monitor in a video editing workspace" class="thread-seo-image" style="width:100%; max-height:450px; object-fit:cover; border-radius:var(--radius-md); margin-bottom:20px;"> Hey everyone, I've been uploading video essays and commentary content for about six months now, and I've run into a recurring issue: copyright claims on clips I use for fair use purposes. I always try to keep my usage transformative—adding my own narration, cutting clips short, and providing commentary—but I still get hit with manual claims from big publishers. I've had three claims so far, none escalated to strikes, but I'm worried about losing my channel. In the latest case, I used a 15-second clip from a 2022 movie trailer in a video about film editing trends. The claim came from a music publisher claiming the background score. I disputed it under fair use, but it's been 30 days with no response. Does anyone have experience navigating the YouTube copyright system? Should I just accept claims to avoid strikes, or is there a better way to handle these? Also, what's the difference between a claim and a strike in terms of channel health? Any advice would be appreciated.
After Effects motion blur looks jittery on export – am I missing a setting?
<img src="/uploads/after-effects-motion-blur-settings-editing-suite-1784553381.jpg" alt="After Effects motion blur settings panel on monitor in editing suite with RGB lighting" class="thread-seo-image" style="width:100%; max-height:450px; object-fit:cover; border-radius:var(--radius-md); margin-bottom:20px;"> Hey everyone, I'm working on a kinetic typography project in After Effects 2026 and I'm running into a weird issue. The motion blur preview looks smooth and beautiful in the composition panel, but when I export via Media Encoder (using the YouTube 2160p preset with VBR 2-pass), the final video has these micro-jitters on fast-moving text. It's like the motion blur is stuttering instead of being smooth. I've already tried increasing the shutter angle to 180°, enabling adaptive resolution, and even pre-composing everything. My composition is 29.97fps, and I'm using the default motion blur settings. Could this be a frame blending issue or something with the render order? I've been pulling my hair out for two days. Any help would be massively appreciated!
