Hey everyone, I've been posting daily Shorts for about six months now, and I keep seeing conflicting advice about using trending songs. Some creators say you can use any music as long as it's under 15 seconds, others say you'll get a copyright strike immediately. I want to grow my channel but I also don't want to risk losing it over a silly mistake.
Can anyone explain the real rules for 2026? Specifically: does the 'Shorts remix' feature protect me if I use a song that's not in the YouTube Audio Library? And what about using music from Spotify or Apple Music – is that a different situation? I'd love to hear from people who have actually dealt with claims or strikes, not just theory.
