Hey everyone, I've been running a tech review channel for about two years now, and my average CTR used to sit around 6-7%. Two weeks ago, I decided to revamp my thumbnail style – I switched from the classic 'shocked face + red arrow' to a cleaner, minimal look with bold typography and product shots. Since then, my CTR has plummeted to 3.5% on new uploads, even though my titles and content haven't changed. I'm starting to panic because my views are tanking too.
I've attached a few of my recent thumbnails for reference. Do you think the new style is the problem, or could it be something else like the algorithm testing my audience? I've heard that drastic thumbnail changes can trigger a 'reset' in your audience's expectations. Should I revert to the old style or give it more time? Any advice would be hugely appreciated – I'm losing sleep over this!
