Hey everyone, I've been shooting with my Sony A7IV for about a year now, mostly run-and-gun documentary style and some event work. I just upgraded to the 24-70mm GM II lens, and I'm realizing my current gimbal (a cheap Neewer one) just can't handle the weight and balance. The motors are struggling, and I'm getting micro-jitters even after careful balancing. I'm looking to invest in a serious gimbal, but I'm overwhelmed by the options. I've been eyeing the DJI RS 4 Pro and the Zhiyun Crane 4, but I'm not sure which one will actually handle the A7IV + GM II combo in real-world conditions. I also do some low-angle shots and use a follow focus system occasionally. I'd love to hear from people who actually use these setups daily. What's your experience with battery life, payload headroom, and the learning curve for the more advanced features? Also, is the extra cost of the RS 4 Pro combo worth it over the standard RS 4? The payload rating is 10 lbs (4.5 kg), and your combo weighs around 3.5 lbs (1.6 kg) with the battery grip, so you have plenty of headroom. I never get motor strain, and the new RS 4 Pro's carbon fiber arms are super rigid—no flex even during fast pans. Battery life is phenomenal: I easily get 12+ hours with the extended grip, which is more than enough for a full shoot day. The learning curve for features like the 3D Roll Stabilization and the new SuperSmooth mode is minimal—I was using them within a day.
